Highly Durable Products Reduce Risk for Consumers
RIM is a manufacturing process used for highly durable composite products. It works like this: the glazing for your skylight is set in a steel mold. The aliphatic polyurethane is injected into the mold, then the glass is encapsulated with aliphatic polyurethane which becomes the frame.
Once the chemicals have cooled into a solid piece, the skylight is ready for installation. This is why we refer to our skylights as solid-state technology: because the glass and frame have bonded together into one solid piece that is both resilient and incredibly strong. This is also why VTECH skylights are capable of withstanding high impacts from flying debris, pressure from intense wind and water, and ongoing exposure to freeze-thaw cycles.
