Why other skylights can’t compare

The traditional skylight is a free-floating pane of insulated glass in a wooden box, including extruded aluminum frame and angle, vinyl gaskets, setting block, sealants and screws of various shapes and sizes. One missing piece or misalignment and the entire assembly is compromised. A wooden curb must be built to accommodate the traditional installation, and weatherproofing around it adds still more work–and chance of failure–to the installation.

Assembling so many components is a huge task that requires time and energy, and having many connections can result in an equally large number of potential leaks. Not only is each piece of the assembly fragile and susceptible to bending and denting, but most of the traditional components are sharp, and the slightest unintended move can damage the skylight, the roof, or both.

The New Solid-State Skylight

VTECH’s Solid-State Skylight has been designed to eliminate all the weaknesses that have previously prevented so many from enjoying the natural light for which skylights are so well known. The light and frame arrive as a single, solid-state piece, chemically bonded through the Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) Process. The Seamless Self-Flashing (SSF) version comes with an integral curb, omitting a fair amount of carpentry, while the Curb-Mounted Cap (CMC) is available for foolproof retrofitting. The VTECH skylight comes prepackaged with the few components required for installation, including an alignment post (SSF), screws and sealant. The aliphatic polyurethane frame is known for its flexibility without causing damage to the light, surface or frame. It absolutely resists leaking and installs in just a few minutes.
